Overview of the FY 2022 Going PRO Talent Fund

  • It is a competitive bid grant. Not every application will get funding. In 2021, there were 1,021 Awards, $39 Million – and an average of $1,311 per trainee – Statewide.
  • It is for training in 2022 calendar year. Electronic applications, which include detailed training plans, are to be submitted Michigan Works! between September 30 and October 28, 2021. Companies will be informed if they did or did not receive the grant around December 15, 2021.
  • A requirement of the application is that a representative of Michigan Works! must conduct a fact-finding meeting before they provide your electronic application. These meetings are being held now!
  • The grant is for existing or future permanent full-time employees, 18 years or older. Contract, part-time or 1099 employees do not qualify unless you plan on hiring them full-time after the training.
  • The training an employee receives must result in a certificate/certification that is recognizable in the industry from a certified training person/organization,
    • In-house training, unless special circumstances warrant it, won’t qualify.
