2016 for the MMSDC & MBDA: Michelle Sourie Robinson

Happy New Year!  This is truly an exciting time at the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC).  Our year is off to a great start and I wanted to personally write to alert you about many improvements already in the works.  There are far too many enhancements to list, but a few are highlighted as follows:

New Strategy: At our Annual Meeting in November, 2015 we released our strategic plan.  Over the past several months you, our constituents provided input via surveys and participated in focus groups, interviews, etc to inform the plan and help us drive business growth for our corporate and MBE constituents.

Our strategy is developed based on our four (4) pillars of service – Certify, Develop, Connect and Advocate.  In addition, committees led by many of our board members have been established to implement various aspect s of our plan.  All corporate members and certified MBEs are invited to participate.  Learn more about our new strategy  and join an implementation committee.

New Perspectives
: Our newly-elected board will be seated at our February board meeting. Competition was fierce.  25{79a647cca87b12cf96891231d015f720afa7c77d4a1b5a84763cbac83075a421} of the new board is comprised of Chief Procurement Officers and more than 50{79a647cca87b12cf96891231d015f720afa7c77d4a1b5a84763cbac83075a421} is comprised of Class IV MBEs, our largest MBEs. Hau Thai-Tang, CPO Ford Motor Company will serve as our Board Chair and we are grateful for his level of commitment to the organization and its mission.

In addition, we have reorganized the MMSDC staff to better serve you.  New talent has been added and we are focused on serving you, our corporate and MBE customers as you drive your business.

New Website: To usher in the new year, we have redesigned our web portal to deliver greater value to you.  Some of the changes include:

  • Easier navigation
  • Blogs from CPOs and MBDA on topics to help you drive your business
  • Featured Success Stories highlighting strong business results

So, yes, it is truly an exciting season at MMSDC and we are more focused than ever on delivering value to our constituents throughout the state and in every industry in 2016.  I look forward to working with you to drive your business goals.
