Wayne County Economic and Development Corporation, in partnership with the Southeast Michigan Community Alliance (SEMCA), is coordinating its 5th annual celebration of MFG Day. Last year, thanks to the willingness of 50 companies, over 3,000 students visited manufacturing facilities, learned about career opportunities and post-secondary options for college.
Manufacturing Day is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. In Wayne County, we are focused on connecting students with employers and businesses that are a part of the Detroit area’s rich manufacturing history through facility tours. Our goal is to help manufacturers inspire this next generation to consider careers in this viable industry.
This year, our goal is to provide an opportunity for 3,200 middle and high school students to visit area facilities and colleges to experience interactive activities and the connection to post-secondary opportunities designed to prepare students for careers in the manufacturing industry.
