The Charter Township of Shelby is accepting proposals for the HIXSON STREET SIDEWALK PROJECT (AUBURN ROAD TO DURHAM STREET) in the Charter Township of Shelby, Macomb County, Michigan


The proposed project consists of installing a new sidewalk along the west side of Hixson Street from Auburn Road to Durham Street including new handicap ramps at all intersections in accordance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance.

The Contract Documents may be examined at the Shelby Township Clerk’s Office, Shelby Township, Michigan, Hennessey Engineers, Inc., Southgate, Michigan, Construction Association of Michigan, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Construction Journal LTD, Stuart, Florida and CDC News Construction Journal, Vero Beach, Florida

Contract Documents will be available starting Tuesday, July 11, 2017 after 1:00pm and may be purchased at: Hennessey Engineers, Inc., 13500 Reeck Road, Southgate, Michigan, 48195 upon payment of a fee of $60.00 per set, $75.00 if mailed, which is nonrefundable.

Please contact Hennessey Engineers at 734-759-1600, 24 hours in advance to request a hard copy. Also, plans are now available on CD for a fee of $15.00 per CD or if mailed, $25.00.

Bidders must deposit, with their bid, surety in the form of a certified check, bank draft, or bid bond, in the sum of five percent (5%) of the amount of the proposal. The OWNER reserves the right to waive any information or to reject any and/or all bids. Bidders may not withdraw their bid within 60 days after the date of bid opened.

Attention is called to the fact that not less than the minimum salaries and wages as set forth in the Contract Documents must be paid on this project, and that the Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex or national origin, in accordance with Executive Order 11246 Equal Employment Opportunity and Notice of Requirement for Affirmative Action to ensure Equal Employment Opportunity, and that the 58900.04 AB-2 June 2017 Contractor will comply with Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968, as amended.

The Contractor and sub-contractors must comply with Davis-Bacon Act July 2nd, 1964 (Title 40276A). The Equal Employment Opportunity Act September 28th, 1965 No. 11246, all United States Department of Labor Regulations and standards Title 29, 1, 3 and 5, Title 18, U.S. C., Section 874 known as “Anti-Kickback Act” and the Federal Opportunity Safety and Health Act of 1970.
