Leon Richardson To Serve as Chair of MBEIC

Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC) is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Leon Richardson, President & CEO of Chemico Systems, Inc. and ChemicoMays, LLC (i.e. the Chemico Group), as Chair of Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee (MBEIC).  As Chair, he is charged with establishing and maintaining a strong and supportive working relationship with the MMSDC Board Chair and Council President while serving as a vital link between the council, corporate members and the entire MBE body.

The purpose of MBEIC is to work in conjunction with the Council to provide input regarding various programs offered by MMSDC as it facilitates minority economic development, and to offer a forum for review and discussion of industry developments affecting minority business utilization by Corporate Members.  The committee is comprised of certified MBEs.

The Chemico Group is, based in Southfield, Michigan, has over 250 employees, operates eight facilities, and maintains a presence at over 50 customer locations in North America. They have received numerous awards and recognition for their outstanding performance and environmental sustainability, and are proud of having a talented, diverse and innovative group of employees.

Mr. Richardson serves as Chairman of the National Association of Black Automotive Suppliers as well as Co-Chair of the General Motors Supplier Diversity Council, and is a board member of the Michigan Minority Business Development Council. Mr. Richardson has served as past board member of two nationally and internationally recognized environmental compliance organizations, Chemical Strategies Partnership (CSP) and Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP).  In addition, the Chemico Group is a founding member of the Mission Ready Sustainability Initiative (MRSI), an initiative between the US Department of Defense and its suppliers addressing sustainability in the supply chain.
