What is Project ONE?
Project ONE (Operation Network Enhancement) is an MMSDC mentoring program that pairs corporate members with MBEs in order to assist and nurture the growth of those MBEs. The program is designed to make MBEs more competitive when seeking out corporate contracts and to help align minority owned businesses with the needs of corporate America. The program relies on the expert advice of our top corporate members, who provide guidance to a select group of minority businesses (this group is called a “module”).
Learn how to grow your MBE from top corporate mentors
By pairing peer groups of MBEs with a corporate mentor, the Project ONE program is able to deliver tangible benefits to MBEs that are poised for growth. The program consists of regularly scheduled educational sessions with guest speakers, along with regularly scheduled meetings with your mentor group. There is also an online community for each Project ONE module, ensuring that all members can stay in contact with one another and share findings over the course of the program.
The Project ONE program specifically provides MBEs with:
- Advice on how to increase production/service capacity
- Guidance on navigating corporate contract processes
- Suggestions to improve presentations and sales pitches
Who qualifies to join a Project ONE module?
While all of Michigan’s certified MBEs are welcome to apply, only a handful are selected to participate in a Project ONE module. Participants are selected based on their potential and readiness for immediate growth. The typical membership period is 2 years, after which the MBE graduates from the program. This allows the MMSDC to add new MBEs to the program and make an impact across a broader range of members.
