Dear MMSDC Corporate Members & MBEs:
Please join me in congratulating our 2015 MMSDC Annual Awards nominees. These leaders have excelled and delivered significant contributions to Michigan minority supplier development, so I encourage you to reach out and congratulate them as simply being nominated is an honor.
The process to select our finalists is well underway and this year promises to be a game changer in the manner we honor and recognize these champions.
You’ve shared your concerns and we have listened. There are several improvements taking place with our awards process and I am excited to announce a few.
- New selection guidelines – We have integrated third party judges to drive integrity in our process in addition to a new scoring criteria (launched during the 2015 nomination process) to better reward those key metrics that drive sustainable minority business development. Finally, in accordance with national best practice standards multi-consecutive year win limits will be instituted (to be launched during the 2016 nomination process). We are eager to infuse more transparency and integrity into this vital process to ensure our awards remain credible and coveted.
- New Awards – As we re-focus on rewarding those contributions that matter most in minority business development, we have created new awards like our Luminary Award which will highlight those MBEs with high percentages of MBE to MBE spend, while also weighing their commitment to mentoring other MBEs, hiring from minority communities, plus other critical factors. Nominations remain open for this category until July 24th. Go to http://awards.minoritysupplier.org/luminary/ to nominate.
- Hall of Fame Launch – As the key driver of minority business development for over 36 years, MMSDC is the most suitable home for the Michigan Minority Business Hall of Fame. So, we have launched this new platform to honor men and women who have made significant contributions to minority business development in the state of Michigan. The inaugural inductees will be announced in the coming months. This prestigious honor will recognize those with positive transformational impact on Michigan’s minority businesses, including government and community leaders as well as iconic MBEs and corporate leaders.
- Elevated Guest Experience – With a new event name, improved event flow, new receptions, more nominee PR and recognition, not to mention new honoree gifts as we retire the former statue, our team is working tirelessly to create an evening of celebration to remember.
Finally, nominations have closed for all awards except our new Luminary award (see link above) and our Hall of Fame (email [email protected]) which both close on July 24.
MMSDC corporate members, MBEs as well as the community at large, mark your calendars. You don’t want to miss October 6; it is shaping up to be an extraordinary evening.
