Plug and Play Detroit

Plug and Play Detroit, Powered by AmplifyD (for Amplify Diversity) will provide Michigan companies with streamlined access to an ecosystem of hundreds of technology startups, with an emphasis on women and minorities. This open innovation platform, the first of its kind in Detroit, was created through a partnership between Silicon Valley’s Plug and Play Tech Center and MMSDC with the support of anchor partners Fiat Chrysler, BorgWarner, and PlanetM.

Startup participants will gain access to mentoring, financing, and opportunities to research and develop their technology. Corporate partners will gain access to innovative technology and talent that will help shape the future of Detroit as a technology hub.

We just announced the inaugural class of startup participants for Plug and Play Detroit, Powered by AmplifyD – called Batch “Zero” with focus on the mobility industry. One of the primary goals of the program is to have women and underrepresented minorities account for 40% of each class. We have surpassed this goal with Batch Zero, where startups founded by women and minorities account for 44% of the total.
