What is your role and how do you feel you support MMSDC Constituents . What issues should MMSDC constituents take to you? 

I am a Business Certification Consultant and support MMSDC’s corporate members and MBEs. They should provide me with any issues or concerns that effect MBEs or corporate members.


Your path to your current position at MMSDC?

Jacqui Showers’ seamless energy and optimism is contagious. She enjoys motivating, mentoring and inspiring others to achieve their highest potential. Jacqui is preparing to release three books in the fall of this year, Prayers for Success: Igniting the Word to Achieve Success, Affirmations for Success: Daily Affirmations for Marketplace Leaders and I DECIDED: Moving From Resolution to Execution. Jacqui worked with Chicken Soup for the African American Woman’s Soul as a reader and spearheaded marketing communications efforts as a City Host for the national book tour. She is a certified life coach. With more than 25 years in marketing communications and non-profit management and leadership, Jacqui Showers has managed the marketing communications efforts for non-profit organizations and private corporations in Washington D.C. and the metropolitan. For more than six years, Jacqui was the President of The Capital Press Club, the oldest African American communications association in the country and had previously served on its executive board and as First Vice President. Under her leadership, she established the infrastructure and strategic approach for the 50-year old organization, which included securing 501 (c) (3) tax exempt status. Her leadership efforts resulted in increased revenue, membership and awareness while continuing to provide quality programming and mutually profitable alliances with associations, businesses, media and the community. Jacqui also served as the Executive Director for Pittman Memorial Non-Profit Housing Development Corporation. She is a graduate of Wayne State University.


Why do you choose to work at MMSDC?

I enjoy providing service to help companies in moving their businesses forward.


What are your outside of MMSDC hobbies or passion projects?

I am a passionate writer. I am preparing to publish three books this fall.


Tell us a little about your family

I am the youngest of 10 children. I have a host of nieces and nephews and a few god sons.
